Offshore Racing in GreeceA wonderful experience
Benefits of racing in GreeceGreece may be synonymous with budget flotilla holidays, but the racing scene is firmly establishing itself. Competing from island to island against premiere Greek sailors while surrounded by the enchanting Aegean, makes for a first class sporting venue. The season runs from March to mid December with glorious weather throughout. With an offshore regatta every weekend and a healthy average of fifty to one hundred boats, the teams vary from keen enthusiasts through to professionals. Sailing conditions are ideal as they range from light airs to ten Beauforts. Strong breezes and katabatic blasts come down from the mountains, to take the wind from 15 to 35 knots in a matter of seconds which always keeps the crew busy! Race format The race formats vary from five to ten day programmes. Typically, for a five day event, there are two days set aside for training. A race will leave Athens and head to an island such as Poros, followed by another island, Kithnos and conclude on the final day when the fleet races back to Athens - this triangular course distance is approximately 150 miles, whereas the longer regattas are roughly 700 miles plus. Whether it's a five or ten day programme, we provide a complete service for all our events. Like to know more? Contact our team on T: +44 (0) 1273 778 660
