Skandia Cowes Week This internationally renowned regatta is one of the most popular and largest events in the world. From its humble beginnings in 1826 it has grown in scale to accommodate 1040 entries and 8500 competitors in various classes. It is when the sailing fraternity of amateurs, as well as, professional and Olympic level descend on Cowes that makes this a spectacular sailing experience. Cork Week Racing RegattaOrganised by the Royal Cork Yacht Club, this premier event takes place every two years, the next being held in 2008. Surrounded by the dramatic landscape of Ireland, participants include both local and international entries of varying levels of experience. With over 2500 sailors and 300 boats competing, this regatta of note is a joy to participate in. Royal Dartmouth RegattaSet in the delightful Devon surroundings on the River Dart, the Royal Dartmouth Regatta is an up and coming and ever-growing event. With its IRC rating, it possesses a competitive edge that has a slightly more relaxed atmosphere. RORC Rolex Fastnet Campaign A gruelling offshore sailing event, which is made up of three Royal Offshore Racing Club (RORC) events, one training weekend and finally the Fastnet Race. Considered a campaign and not just a race, completing this course requires a strong, motivated and determined team to work together. Although this is no jolly, the novice yachtsman need not be deterred, as the experience results in a hugely rewarding learning curve. The starting point is along the south coast of England where you will sail down to Lands End through the Atlantic to the southern coast of Ireland, circle the Fastnet Rock and return to the finish line in Plymouth. Round the Island RaceOrganised by the Island Sailing Club in Cowes this regatta began in 1931 and now is one of the largest races in the UK. An extremely popular fixture it’s a fifty-mile course around the Isle of Wight with a 22-hour time limit. Like to know more? Contact our team on T: +44 (0)1273 778 660 E:
